Conservation of the Eurasian lynx

Conservation of the Eurasian lynx

Eurasian Lynx is an endangered species. Forests destruction and poaching do not almost left them a chance for surviving. In order to preserve this beautiful cat, Kyiv Zoo is participating in the European Endangered Species Program (EEP) of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) in order to save Eurasian Lynx.

Zoo's mission is to create a reserve group, save species or subspecies and be able to support populations in the wild. Our young lynx - Raisa and Roxana have grown up and are going to other zoos of EAZA and UAZA.

Roxana is already in the Zoobotanical Garden of Torun, the Republic of Poland (Ogród Zoobotaniczny w Toruniu ), where a male from Germany is waiting to meet her. Trip from M & M Zoo Service S.C. passed easily. We hope that they will like each other and their offspring will live in the wild.

Raisa remains on the territory of Ukraine and is preparing for a trip to the zoo of the Ukrainian Association of Zoos and Aquariums - Limpopo.

Due to this Program a male Kunak arrived from the Czech Republic. Together with female Ricci they created a family and are successfully breeding :)
