On March 23-25, the Kyiv Zoological Park hosted the third All-Ukrainian practical seminar on the study of the animal accounting system ZIMS – an important tool for managing the animal population in each zoo and in species conservation activities. The main purpose of the event was to train specialists of Ukrainian zoos (both zoologists and veterinarians) the rules of using the international database ZIMS with the subsequent connection of Ukraine to the Species 360 system, which serves more than a thousand zoos and aquariums around the world and contains an electronic database information on more than 3 million animals (more than 15,000 species in total). Specialists from Kyiv, Lutsk, Cherkasy, Odesa and Rivne zoos took part in the seminar. At the end of the training, which was conducted by the regional coordinator of Species 360 in Eastern Europe and Israel, Alexander Kantorovich, all participants received certificates of international standard.
